Final Assembly of 2016
As I'm sure you are aware Mrs Hutton has retired as of today. After 17 years at the helm she has decided to move on to pastures new. Today, both the children and staff held a final assembly for Mrs Hutton. A moving affair for all involved, both the children and staff presented Mrs Hutton with various gifts alongside some memorable performances from the school choir, Mrs Millar's recorder group and many other individuals. Below are some images from the day and a link to the album containing many more.
Christmas P7 Dance
Yesterday the 20th of December 2016 saw another P7 Christmas Dance take place in the school. Our (almost) resident accordion player informed me that this was his 29th appearance at Shawlands Primary School, a phenomenal run of appearances I'm sure you will all agree and one which we hope will continue next year. As you can see from the images below and those in the photo album (linked below) I'm sure you will agree that both the children and staff appreciate his attendance.
Christmas Jumper Day
The 15th of December was the annual Christmas Jumper day at Shawlands PS. This year instead of children and staff being asked to bring in £1 to wear their Christmas jumpers and own atire, Mr Black asked that we all donated a few 'tins' of food for the local Food Bank. And what a generous lot we are!
As you can see from the images below there is far more than anyone could have expected! As a staff we would like to thank all the children and parents who donated tins or packets to this most worthy of causes. Mr Black has organised for the Food Bank to collect the hundreds of items and distribute them to families who would not have been having a Christmas dinner this year had it not been for your generous donations.
Merry Christmas to you all.
The school choir, led by Miss McClounan were invited to the BBC studios at Pacific Quay in Glasgow this week to perform christmas carols which will be aired over the festive period.
